About the Company

Handicraft industries abound in the Philippines nowadays and most of which started as a family backyard activity becoming afterwards a national and international stature. This industry is replete with success stories that have inspired and encouraged others to follow or do the same. ORLAD`S NOVELTY is no exception.

In 1988, Tito F. Farma put up Orlad`s Novelty. He invested a small capital, part of his early retirement pay from Philippine National Bank. The entry of Orlad`s Novelty in the industry was inspired by the promising handicraft industry which flourished in Davao City in mid 80`s. He was also inspired at that time by the big demand of handicraft items from the souvenir shoppe of his wife, Fredolina L. Farma, at Aldevinco Shopping Center, Davao City serving as their showroom catering to their buyers.

The experience of Orlad`s Novelty in fashioning out of coconut trunks, bamboo and other wood products into novelty items such as ashtrays, jewelry boxes, decorative plates, jars, flower vases, all painstakingly handpainted with ethnic designs of the T`boli and Mandaya tribes of Mindanao in the Philippines has earned all for Orlad`s Novelty.
